I’m running Adobe Premiere CS3 on a quad-core PC with all the works. The funny thing is that I can’t run the problem for more than 45 minutes without it having problems with the audio. It will be working fine, then all of the sudden the audio cuts in and out. Sometimes my projects have multiple audio tracks and Premiere will only play one of them. Sometimes it will just cut out all together for a few seconds, then come back on. The only solution I’ve found for this is to shut the computer off and restart windows & premiere– only to have it mess up again minutes later.

Is this a problem with my sound card? My RAM? A bug in the program? I would gladly fix this problem if I just knew what it was!

It was a bug in CS3, but also linked to cheap integrated cards from what could find out after some testing (was it Realtek?).

Anyway, it always happened on the machine which had integrated card, but not in the M-Audio machine.

Sorry, I wish I could be more specific.

The problem has not been seen in CS4, at least not on that same machine.
