Premiere CS 5.5 is having a hard time importing MXF files spanned across three P2 cards.

I recorded an hour and twenty seven minutes of video that spanned three 16gb P2 cards.

I copied the files (“contents” and “lastclip.txt) from P2 cards to my hard drive. When I try to import the mxf files from the various cards, all I get is multiple instances of the first 34 minutes instead of three clips containing part 1, part 2 and part 3.

If I convert the files in Adobe Media Encoder, I get all the footage but I lose the original timecode and the audio gets converted into one discreet track. It also seems to scale my video too.

    I’m confused.

Are you using the Media Browser to import the footage?

    Cheers JB 🙂

I’m having the exact same problem. I have each card’s contents in its own folder but in the browser each folder appears to contain the same clip (the first part).

In MXF4Mac player I can see that the other clips are there but Premiere doesn’t see them.

    Cheers,

    Mark

Jon, yes I am using the media browser. I’m certain it’s some kind of a data base issue. Perhaps those xml files in the clip folder play a part. If I transcode the files everything is fine but then I end up with twice the data.
