Premiere CC 15.3 — 4K files with proxies playback issue
Hi all,
I’m trying to edit 4k files in a 1080 sequence using proxies, however when I scale the footage to a percentage when there is black showing (less than 50 percent), it gets all stuttery during playback and jumps up in size. When its zoomed in above 50%, it doesn’t happen. When it’s paused, or when I unattach the proxies, everything works fine. It also works when I use “Scale to Frame Size,” but I don’t want to use that because it lowers the 4K quality. Has anyone encounted this before? Any solutions?

Hey Alex,
Yes, that’s exactly my same issue! The problem is that the fix they arrive at (scaling the footage to 51%) doesn’t work for me because I have to have some of the clips below 50% scale to fit into screens and such. Do you know why the proxies do this? Is there another workaround?

No….I don’t know what causes it. Surely a bug.
What resolution are your proxies?

I tried multiple — first 2K, then 1080, then 540, all the same result

So when you take 4k….
and make a 1080 out of it…
that’s Pix Aspect and dot Res match your actual sequence….it’s choppy?
