We have the CS3 pro Premium suite on a win XP machine. For some reason Premier Cs3 will not open. I have tried uninstall and reinstall. The whole suite and just premier, but it will still not open. It starts up and starts to load the plugins, and then quits. I have tried running the serial number reset program from adobe’s website, but that won’t work either. I need to get some older adobe files from this PC and move them over to my MAC, but some are saved in a older version of premier and I can’t get at them over the network.

Anyone have any ideas, even crazy ideas. This app has been like this for a while and I really need to open it. Adobe can’t seem to help me either.

Thank you, but I have been on it for hours. I wished I had the link on this computer, but if anyone needs it, I will dig it up. The adobe website said to reinstall QT, when that didn’t work, it said to rename two permissions folders. I renamed them, and Premier started right up. I guess they were corrupted.

Maybe I should work for Adobe or start my own call center. Lord knows I have done enough of trouble shooting on a very expensive product.

I’m having the same trouble & have been at it 4 days trying every other “fix”. Could you PLEASE let me know what Permission Files need renamed and where they’re located?
    Thanks a bunch!

It has been a while, but do a search on adobe’s website about repairing permissions in CS3. It was a complete walk though and it worked for me. In addition to taking out a few permissions there were a few other files to delete. Let me see if I can find the file. I don’t use win very much, do it has been months since I fixed it.

Finally found a fix! The following post solved the problem of Adobe PP CS3 quitting after the splash screen. Hope it helps whom ever else.
    Thanks everybody for your help!

    OPEN FOLDER: MY DOCUMENTS/ADOBE/PREMIERE PRO/3.0/LAYOUTS/

THEN DELETE FILE: WORKSPACECONFIG.XML (DON’T WORRY, PREMIERE WILL MAKE A NEW ONE)

    OPEN PREMIERE]
