Premier Pro ram
Posted by Kevin Allar on October 20, 2011 at 9:45 pmHow much RAM is necessary? Is there such thing as too much? In other words, is 18 gigs enough?

October 20, 2011 at 10:05 pmWe recommend 4GB installed per core (counting virtual cores from hyperthreading). Hope that helps.

October 21, 2011 at 9:05 pmSo for my quad i7 with HT I should have 32 gigs of ram? Wow, I’m not sure my system can go up that high. I thought I was doing good with 18. (I was thinking of bumping it up to 24, though, to help with the situations where PPro and AE are open at the same time for a dynamic link…)

For Premiere Pro, a practical minimum for RAM is about 8GB, reasonably smooth performance can be gotten at about 12GB, and performance plateaus around 24GB.
