    Hi,

We are going to simplyfy our work-flow in our studio and are looking at centralised storage for our video editors (x3). has anyone experience in this?

We are thinking of upgrading to a Gigabit network, getting a NAS box (https://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=437050) and then using Premier Pro on 3 local machines to capture to and edit video files from the NAS box.

I need to find out if that is possible in the first place (e.g. if Premier will work properly if with project files that reside on a network drive (any path finding problems, unexpected slwonesses), and whether a NAS box over a Gigabox network can provide enough power to have 3 people editing away on it.

Thanks so much for your thoughts on this. If you find the above set-up not a good idea, and/or haev seen more efficent set-ups, what are they? We are currently working with internal and externla hard disks that do not really have suffienct capacity and it is too confusing (e.g. back-ups, etc)

    Thanks,

    Nik C

Personally I would use a nice quality RAID for the storage, and would use either firewire (tcpip works over firewire) or fibre channel.
