premier 6.0 n00b
I am trying to edit a half hour show with 720×480 resolution. I have a 1.2 gig athlon with 1 gig of memory. I have the 2 .vob files converted to mpg and they play fine in VLC media player but when I try to import them into premier they become choppy. It was working fine when I had a ten minute clip at a very low resolution. Is it my computer or my version of premier too old? What file formats should I be using for editing? I have learned a lot so far and am just a little burnt out right now so any help would be appreciated.

Premiere 6.0 is not very fond of compressed video like mpeg.
Convert to dv-avi. -
Thank you Ann. I started the project with and avi converted file but it said I did not have the codec. Can I download this codec for free? Is avi different than dv-avi and I need to find a new file converter.

ok did some searches, downloaded these files, and will try it at home tonight. fingers crossed
