Prefered playout software? HD-SDI in and out
Posted by Fred-stian Martila on September 15, 2016 at 8:20 amHi.
Does anyone have experience with playout software that they would recommend?
Some demands for the system:
– Windows platform
– HD SDI in and out (I’ve got a Blackmagic card so that would be prefered!)
– Play HD clips and have at least two layers of graphic.Josh Phillippi replied 9 years, 8 months ago 2 Members · 3 Replies -

If you are looking for software only, I would recommend vMix. This will play nicely with your Blackmagic card and is based off of a Windows Platform. Also, available in HD & 4k, and will meet your graphics needs. Here are some links to more informaton:

https://pistonmediagroup.com/vmix/Piston Media Group is an Advanced Partner / Reseller / Systems Integrator for vMix. Another great product we carry is Telestream Wirecast. This would also be a solution that would meet your requirements. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and discuss your workflow, please feel free to call me or any member of our staff at any time.

September 16, 2016 at 6:48 amSo sorry, it was one point in the demands list i forgot to mention and that is the fact that we would like the software to go to live input at a certain time and date.
I’ve tried the vMix software and I must say I like it, but can’t seem to find a “on monday 19th august @ 09:00 AM go to live input 1, then @16:00PM continue playing the list” function.

September 16, 2016 at 3:34 pmCurrently there is no scheduler function for vMix, nor Wirecast. There is a third party software that some of our clients have used for this, however, I do not have any first hand experience with it. https://www.weir3d.de/film/vMixScheduler
If you have some time, please feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss your workflow, needs, and some solutions that might be a good fit for you. Unfortunately though, at this time anyway, I am not aware of any software for live broadcast or streaming media that has a scheduler.
