Precomposing: Not allowing me to “Leave All Attributes”

[Raphi Stein] “I’m trying to precompose a selection of about 6 layers, but AE is not letting me select Leave All Attributes (it fades out the radio button), which is annoying because when I precomp them, it distorts everything in the main comp. Why is it doing this?”

You can only leave all attributes when you are precomping a single layer.

A couple screenshots may help us understand what distortion it is that you’re seeing.

You may want to try turning on Collapse transformations [link] for the precomp layer.

I can’t post screenshots this time but basically I’m doing some relatively simple animation for a company, where I used a camera to move about some 2d layers. I wanted to collect groups of these layers into precomps but back in the main comp they were becoming distorted because the focus of the shot was now in a different position relative to the camera. It was really anoying
