  • precomposing lights and having them show through to main comp?

    hey guys,

is there a way to precompose lights, and have them affect other layers in the main comp? i would have thought that by collapsing transformations, the light would show through and impact on the other layers in my main comp (as well as the layers in the precomp where the light resides, as you can’t precomp a light on it’s own).

seems odd that you can’t do this.

    any suggestions welcome.
    thanks!
    scott.

No, that does not work as you already found out. All lights have to be in the final main comp. “collapse transformations” really only accumulates all transform operations (matrix folding) and does not affect the rendering as such. If you really need to your lights to stick in specific places (I’m assuming this is what you want to do), you need to use parenting or expressions.
