I’m fairly new. Nevertheless, I’ve never had trouble precomposing before. I:

Make sure I have the arrow tool and that the caps lock is off
Select the layers (Text, Adjustment, Text)
    Press Control Shift C…

    And nothing happens.

    Am I missing a step, or ????

Thanks in advance for any help.

What are you trying to precompose?

I am trying to precompose 3 layers:

The top layer is a Text layer.
Under that is an Adjustment layer.
Beneath that is another Text layer.

    (I have failed once–700 times.)

Can you use the drop down under layers to pre-compose? Can you precomp, the layers individually?

Thank you for your attention to my problem. I actually feel very foolish. I was trying to compose with shift-control-C. It’s working with now with shift-command-C.

    Again, my thanks,
    Pat
