  • Precomposed comp getting cut off after moving it over – how do I fix it?

Posted by Timi Boose on December 20, 2019 at 4:51 am

Hello – I’m sure this is simple for most of you but I rarely use Aftereffects and have to relearn everything every time I use it.

Ok – so I have two compositions – one is the pomegranate and one is the seeds exploding out of the pomegranate. When I started the project the pomegranate and seeds were both centered. Now I have moved everything to the left side of the screen, but the seeds are getting cut off at the right. How do i fix this to utilize the whole screen?
Also I have every screen on a separate layer – it is really a pain! any tips – let me know!

The suggested way to embed the video is not working – it is on you tube – here’s the link to copy and paste:

One of the layers is much smaller in pixel size than the main comp.
Select the pom layer and see what shows up on the screen.

really it looks okay to me…i didnt even notice the seeds going off screen…but what you need to do is to go into the seeds sploding comp and move the starting point over to the left…or move the particle world over to the left…depending on how you made it…or instead of moving anything you could just make the porn seeds comp wider and that would also fix…ha…porn seeds..i ate a porn just last night…peeled it myself too

Hi Timi. I presume you have repositioned the pom precomps layers by moving them to the left in your main composition? Centre them again then go into the precomps and:
    Add a Null
Pickwhip the pom layers to the null (making them children of the Null)
Open the Null’s position parameters and change the X position which will drag the pom layers to the correct spot – make a note of what the Null’s new X position is.
Do this for the other pom composition making sure they are at the same X position.
    Does this make sense?

They are the same size comps. I fixed it by checking the collapse transformations box in the timeline. I don’t know why it worked but it totally fixed the cutting off issue. Now I just need to make the seeds go the right arc and speed.
