i have had this problem many times and just worked around it, but this time i would like to figure this out.

I have 9 3d layers moving around w/ a camera in after effects 3d space.

I pre comp all these layers so that i can apply a single effect to all of them at the same time. Then when i flip on the custom view of this pre comp and it looks like one single 3d layer, there is not depth between the individual layers as there was before i pre comped.

someone suggested turning on the continuous rasterize button, which does put the depth back between my layers but it also screws with the portions of my animation and messes it all up

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can depend on the effect you are trying to apply. Some cause a collapse or compression of the rendering pipeline. You debug this by switching your layers on and off, one at a time, switching your effects on and off, one at a time.

What filter/effect is giving you such trouble?

I am using the warp effect and it does collapse my pre comp.

However still when i select continuous raster button the proportions of my pre comp are different then the way i created it in the origins. my animation is different and i dont know why?
