    Hey there,

I have now a first project I´d like to edit with PPro and not FCP 🙂

The system is a MacPro Quad with 12GB Ram, Sonnet Raid, ATI Radeon 5770 and BMD HD Extreme 3D, OSX 10.6.7, latest BMD driver (beta).

I have XDCam EX 720p50 Material which I imported directly intro PPro without converting.

Preview in the source window the material is fine, playing it back in the timeline/record window is not fluently (“choppy” like some people already named it).
I guess it´s a setting issue that the material is not played back fluently (and hopefully not only a “you have no NVIDIA CUDA – forget it” thing). Can someone give me tips for proper settings for project and playback? It´d be also great to have playback via BMD on the external HD SDI Monitor. (what looks like some sort of basic function :-))

    Thank´s for any help!

    Latest blackmagic driver?
You need to select a blackmagic timeline on startup. Then you will have output.
Dont think in codec timelines like in fcp.

Latest BMD: Desktop Video 8.2 Beta 3 for Macintosh

Do I need to transcode the XDCam EX footage, or should it be native and this “choppy” playback has another reason?

    BTW:

I do have only BMD output from the source viewer not the record/timeline viewer…how weird is that?

Don’t install the BETA driver. That’s for FCPX

You do have output from the source because you have a wrong sequence!

    Select NEW SEQUENCE
Select Sequence from the BLACKMAGIC FOLDER that matches your footage.

Ah, I just think I read somewhere that the Beta is concerning some PPro5.5 issues, too…hmmm…

Thank´s for the hint with the sequence – that´s the solution! Thank you!

It’s not just for FCPX. It was recommended to me by BMD to solve some issues in premiere.

    Not this one, though.
