PPro on Quad Mac – Crashing/output question
Hi,
I’ve just gone to extreme lengths to get CS3 Premiere Pro onto a Mac. I’ve used Final Cut pro for years but want to access Adobe’s Dynamic linking, Clip Notes and Flash integration. So I’ve set up the following:
Mac 3.2 Ghz Quad Dual Intel Cores
Black Magic DecklinkHD card (I’d be happier with AJA Kona 3 but thy don’t support PP)
Atto Fiber channel (to 5.6 TB Apple XServe RAID)
18 GB RAM
FCS Studio, CS3 Master CollectionPicking up PP was easy (the custom keyboard setting that matches FCP is genius.) But I am having a lot of problems:
– with the app crashing unexpectedly – it seems to be very unstable. Any thoughts?
– Is there anyway to monitor through the BM card other than when I have a DV project? It doesn’t seem to allow me to set the external monitor unless I’ve set up a DV sequence…(and I have read the manual!)
– the images on both the monitor (Cinema 23″ via HDlink) and Sony PVM are horribly bitmapped. The image on the computer monitor isn’t much better. Is this how PP works? I can’t believe that…(I have set the quality to best.)
– with AE dynamic link, I have to render out the shot and then manually replace the clip on the timeline? Have I got that right?
Thanks for taking the time.
