I know, I know, CS2. I am just working on getting by until we get upgraded CC systems probably later this year. Working with this ancient copy, because there’s more potential here than my equally-old SD-only Avid systems. Company systems, BTW – so I cannot do just anything I want. Win 7, 8GB RAM.

I want to be able to knock out some simple promos. Adding a video/audio tag and outputting for the server. Most source comes as MPG files (1080i or 720P), sometimes in TS wrappers.

When I import, I get audio only; I am presuming a codec issue. But I can view them using VideoLAN’s VLC Player on the same machine.

I am guessing I need a codec this old copy of Premiere will like. Any ideas/resources you would suggest? Or am I asking an old dog to do a trick it cannot do? Tried pulling the file into After Effects too, but it upset its’ stomach.

    CS2 only supports HDV.

Thanks Ann. I had a feeling it was a software limitation. Hopefully I will not have to deal with it much longer.

Sometimes, you can change the .ts extension to .mpg and they will work. Just try it on a copy of course. Worth a shot.

Pro2 does not edit mpeg very well due to the long gop.
If you wanted to edit mpeg one needed to get the Mainconcept plugin.
Dont think that specific plugin is still available.
