  • PPro 2 HDV capture – can’t connect to sony

    Hi
I’m trying to capture HDV into Premiere Pro 2 using a SONY HVR Z1e. What ever I do, I can’t get the capture window to show or control the camera. I notice that there are lots of Device Types available in the Options menu under Sony but this particular camera isn’t there. Could this be my problem? Is there any way to add to that list?

I have managed to capture DVCAM from the Z1 in Windows Movie Maker, so that bit’s kind of working. When the camera is in HDV mode I had a look at the Device Manager in My Computer and there’s a ‘AV/C Tape Device’ listed under Sound, video and game controllers’ which seems to be the Sony Z1. Still Premiere doesn’t recognise it.

Does any one have any suggestions?
    Many thanks
    Jamie

I hope you find a solution. I have PPro 1.5.1 and have the same problem, but also that PPro’s HDV output (by firewire) isn’t recognised by the Sony deck … so I can’t record to the deck. Can you?

I haven’t tried recording out to HDV but I very much doubt it would work since PPro can’t control the camera.

This is a fresh installation of the Adobe Creative Suite with a proper HDV camcorder and it just won’t work. Not very imressive.

    Any tips much appreciated!
