I captured material from sony HDV camcorder and wanted to export to jvc compilant HDV format for my friend to so he could edit it with his JVC HDV material on Liquid 7. But the JVC BR-HD50 VTR wont accept exported material, I get signal “render and record hdv”, I do that , after some time it says “recording” but nothing happens… my settings are 1080 50i so is VTR setting .
What am I doing wrong ????

I don’t think PPro2 has transport control of HDV devices. You have to manually start recording on the VTR.

The BR-HD50U can record HDV format 720/30p/25p/24p, 480/60p or 576/50p video and DV format 480/60i and 480/24p video.

I don’t see anywhere that it can record 1080i, even though it can export it.

it starts recording but it’s just a black screen…

“even though it can export i”

Hmm , but it can’t export 1080i that sony writes … So what kind of 1080 can it do ?
Is there any way it ca scale down that material and record at 720 ?

My guess is that your only solution is to have him edit the M2T you captured. He should be able to downsize it in his NLE.
