PP CS6: can’t change duration of stills in timeline…
Now sure why, but when I add any stills to my timeline, Premiere Pro CS6 doesn’t allow me to change their duration. Why isn’t it possible to just drag the in or out point to length or shorten the still image duration.
I must be doing something wrong but I haven’t figured out what it could be.Would very much appreciate any help.

Can you supply a screen shot of the timeline. This is not expected behaviour.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for your help. I discovered that you have to be in trim mode to lengthen or shorten any still. OK, that makes sense. Coming from FCP7, I’m still getting my head around how some things are done a little differently in PP CS6. IN FCP7, it was just a question of doing “extend edit”. But I didn’t find the same for stills in PP CS6.

Moving your pointer to the end of the clip should allow you to change the duration. You can also right click and choose speed/duration to enter a precise value.

CS6 also has a extended edit for stills, works the same as for clips.
Set playhead on end of still, and press the mouse when you see the red Roll Edit icon.
Now move playhead to the position you want the still to stretch to.
Press E.
