Only just making the switch from FCP 7 to Premiere Pro CS6 (finally!). So I am probably going to ask some dumb noob questions. Previously, I’d take our Canon 5D Mark III footage and run it through 5DtoRGB Batch to convert to ProRes and REC 709 before bringing it into FCP. I’m told I don’t need to transcode with Premiere Pro and yes, I seem to be able to edit the compressed footage straight out of the camera. My question is – do I need to be concerned about the old 601 vs 709 issue when working in premiere? After editing I want to take it into either Apple Color (which I know well) or DaVicnci Resolve Lite (which I have yet to learn).

    Thanks in advance.

Premiere will interpret 5DmkIII files correctly, although you may want to make sure that your software is up to date as there are some bug fixes in 6.0.1 that help straighten that out.

As far as how Apple Color and Davinci Resolve deal with it, those two programs are out of my specialty so I can’t say.
