PP CC 2014 Keeps building Cache files in my system drive/library
Despite changing my preferences to have cache files saved to an external drive, PP still makes .ims files
in my internal drive/library/common/media cache files. This happens with every project I open. Which is what Premeire is supposed to do but to a drive of my choice. Or so I thought
Cleaning does no good and trashing prefs doesn’t seem to help.
I am suffering from many crashes as well. Mainly when exporting video in all types of formats.
I’m reporting this to Adobe but I’d like to hear if there are others.PP Pro CC 2014.2
Mac OSX 10.8.5
Mac Pro 32 gig ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB
ESATA disk arrays and many external drive mounts -

Hi Mark,
.ims files are system specific and will always generate to the system drive. They cannot be stored on a server or external drive.
FYI: ims files = Cache of file properties used to skip re-reading the file during project load.

I’ve been deleting all my cache and preview files at least twice a day to combat all the crashes I seem to be having while exporting. Should I be deleting the ims files as well?Crashing on exports seems to happen during H.264 ,Pro Res or any format really.
Source footage ranges from Sony EX, Canon mp4, Go Pro , GH4, Pro Res , C100, C300.
