  Powerbook 1.67 problems

  I just got a 1.67 powerbook with 2 gigs of memory. We are using FCP 5 and I am using a lacie FW800 PCMIA card with a BigDisk D2 and a AJA IO/LA connected to the internal FW400 port. I crash constently. And when ever I digitize, render or even just play video for more than 3 minutes my computer gets very hot and a loud buzzing fan turns on. (room was very cold)

  When the system crashes it will either freeze completely or start “chuggin” and communication with the IO/LA stops working.

  I have been crashing when FCP is open or closed. I have crahsed even when the IO/LA is not connected or the drive is not connected.

  Has anyone heard of any defects this machine may have. This is my second powerbook, I would hate to return it too.

  Also all 3rd party components are working perfectly when attached to my G5.
