Im looking to buy a PowerBook G4, The guy Im buying it from says that the Onboard Speakers stopped working about a month ago, He has looked into it, and he says that the computor thinks there are headphones plugged into the headphone jack, so that no longer works either, He said it can be fixed with an OS update, He recomended 10.4.X Tiger, I looked over the computor, and other then that it works fine!!

Is that legitimate, have you guys ever heard of that?

    Please respond quickly!

    Thanks,
    Matt

The only way to tell is to boot it from a known good system, if it still doesn’t work it needs a new logic board

    Hi Matt!

I have the same problem on MY powerbook G4. It’s a jack problem. Right now I can put headphones in and out a couple of times and that usually fixes the problem. I have apple care and should really get this fixed!! Maybe yours is past the point of wiggling the jack now…?
