Posterise time expression stops working on adjustment layer.
Hi everyone,
I have inherited an after effects file with a posterise time expression on a turbulent displace adjustment layer to effect the layers underneath. The issue I have is that the effect stops working or ‘runs out’ at a certain point (frame 1020) in the timeline, but there are no keyframes there, or anything else that would effect it. It works fine up until that point.
The expression is here: PosterizeTime(4); time*800’
I’ve tried adjusting the numbers but that doesn’t seem to work and I don’t know a great deal about expressions so I’m stuck!
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would be really grateful.

You’re probably running into integer overflow on the Evolution property. Try it this way:
posterizeTime(4);
(time*800)%32768You probably won’t notice where it repeats (where it used to stop). If you do, we may have to come up with some kind of blend operation.
