Possible to keep the actual resolution of a video when nesting?
As the title says im trying to keep the original resolution of my layers when nesting.
For example I have a layer named “movie” then I precompose it and name the precomposed layer “movie_precomp” now while in the “movie_precomp” composition I scale the layer “movie” down. now in a complete different composition I add in the “movie_precomp” as a layer and scale that up, it is now acting as if my scaled down “movie” layer in the “movie_precomp” is a lower resolution and I get the beautiful fuzziness
I don’t know if this possible, I thought the “preserve resolution when nested” was the option I needed before I started this little project but apparently it is not. Unless there’s something I’m missing that would be awesome if resolutions of individual clips could be preserved when nesting.

What you are talking about is the collapse transformations function. It’s the button that looks like a little sunburst. What it does is allow you to precompose assets, but it preserves the assets original settings.

I just tried the little sunburst looking switch and it screwed up my precomp. inside the precomp are 3d layers and when I turn on the switch it throws everything off. I’m going to watch the video about The Naked Truth About Collapse Transformations and see if theres anything in there
edit: the resolution didn’t seem to fix with the switch turned on either
edit2: just watched the video and it was pretty interesting! Although not useful to solving my problem because turning on the collapse transformation re-turns the layers into 3d layers which is something I was trying to avoid in the first place by pre-composing. So I’ll just think its safe to assume that what I am trying to do isn’t possible and just start working on another way. Thanks for the reply though!
