Possible to import AI layers and path (not an AICB question)
I would like to be able to import a layer with it’s path intact to be able to do flash like illustrations with in AE. Right now I can import the AI file as a comp and then copy the paths over from each layer and paste them into the appropriate layer in AE. If I need to change the mask as I am animating and make it smaller it works well but if I need to expand the mask then there is not enough layer and I have a problem. I know that I can simply paste the mask into a new layer in AE but then I have to duplicate the coloring or gradients etc. that I setup in Illustrator.

Can’t you just scale up the layer from the imported Illustrator comp? If you want it to be sharp, you can click the “continuous rasterization” switch.
