  • Position Shift in AE When editing Photoshop Doc?

Posted by Eric Goldstein on July 24, 2007 at 9:16 pm

    Hi,

When editing a photoshop doc – source footage for an AE comp – for instance painting on the item, I get a position shift after saving the Photoshop doc and returning to AE. I haven’t in any way altered the photoshop layer other than to paint it. I haven’t altered the layer or document name.

The photoshop documents contain multiple layers and painting one layer, affects the spatial positioning in AE. The AE comp is all 3D.

Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

    Thanks,

    Eric

I just found that the original Photoshop documents were created in Photoshop 5.5. We are using Photoshop CS 2, here. Apparently, where PS 5.5 created a layer that AE sees as, for instance, 350X240 pixels, after editing the document in CS 2 the layer is reloaded at a much larger and very different size. Other layers on the document are sometimes, but not always affected as well.

Anyone know a way to keep the layer size the same when editing them?

    Thanks again,

    Eric
