Hey guys, ran into yet another problem trying to set my video up today…

With a couple of the audio clips that I import into FCP, I’ve noticed there is a distinct ‘popping’ and crackling distortion when I place the song in the timeline and play it back. Now, the audio plays perfectly fine within itunes, etc, but when imported into FCP it gets distorted.

Any ideas? Right now my sequence settings are at 48khz and 16bit…is this the reason? Maybe these certain mp3’s that I’m using don’t match those settings? I’ve tried changing it to 32 khz and re-rendering but still no good results 🙁

Not just your sequence settings have to be 16-bit 48KHz, but the music file must be as well. Here’s a tutorial:

Golden rule in FCP is to always convert all audio to 16 bit 48khz aif before importing. FCP does not handle mp3s or other sample rates in the timeline. Apart from pops and crackles, people have also had sync issues.

Follow the basic rule and no problems.
