Poor MPEG Render Quality with HDV footage captured with Cineform
Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can help me with this problem;
I shot my footage on a Sony FX1 @ 1440×1080. I captured the HDV footage onto my PC with the Cineform codec, to huge .avi files, and my captures look positively stellar. I dropped the .avi’s into vegas, edited the scene, and am now at the rendering stage.
My destination format is DVD. When I render out to MPEG-2, The quality goes out the window. The footage looks pixelated. I’ve played around with the settings for days, trying all sorts of resolutions and tick boxes, and still most renders end up poor quality, and usually in 4:3 aspect ratio as well.
My project setting match my source footage.
The best results I’ve gotten thus far is rendering out as an .avi using the cineform codec at 1280×1024, 24p, 1.0 pixel ratio, dropping that into DVD Architect, and allowing it to resize as it sees fit. The results still are nothing close to my original capture quality.
I’m trying to pinpoint what I’m missing. Any help?
I appreciate the insight.
