Just wondering if anyone has any idea how to set up a “pseudo” lanshare setup? All I want is to have a centralized storage for my Avid XpressPro stations using the DV25 format only. Will working off a networked drive on a Gigabit network do the trick? Any other ideas?:)

There are two choices: EditShare or Facilis Technology (Terrablock). EditShare works with GigE and is probably exactly what you are looking for.

Buy something. DO NOT take the DIY approach unless you really understand how to build a SAN.

would probably be able to set up something like this if you exported everything to your network drive using quicktime format and then reimporting when you need the file. Not quite as quick and flexible as Lan…but would provide some sort of shared storage albeit without the love of Media Manager.

[ribdog] “but would provide some sort of shared storage albeit without the love of Media Manager.”

This is in no way, shape or form SHARED STORAGE. You would be foolish to try to work this way.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver
