    Hi all,

I basically have a real dumb question.
My client wants a Google Earth kinda animation.
So I want to create a scene with earth, some planets and of course some billion stars.
As I’m migrating from Lightwave, I thought it would be as simple to create those stars.
Here’s the method I use in LW: create a sphere with a ridiculous amount of polys, kill the polys and convert the points to polypoints and give them a texture. Tadaa…not!
I can’t import the model or scene in c4d… And I have been trying the same method in c4d but there seems to be no such function as points-to-polypoints…
    Any suggestions?
    Thanx a lot!

True, Cinema can’t render points. You need at least a triangle in order to render something (not including Hair, Sketch & Toon, or Storm Tracer).

In this case you could distribute small triangles on your sphere, or generate particles from the sphere and use a small triangle as the particle geometry.

another possibility is to put one of the star maps found here https://maps.jpl.nasa.gov/stars.html on a sphere or Sky Object

    Hi Adam & Brian,

Thanx for the tips. I’m gonna try the star map method.
