Hello, My name is Justin. I Am learning Cinema 4D for an independant study at school, and I’ve hit kind of an inpass. I took to mocca tutorials with the mime, and everything worked well. I then went back after my modelling skills improved, and created my own, more realistic mime to bone and experiment iwth using mocca. The problem is that the computer I am working on (a duao processor apple G5) can’t handle the new mime. I looked at the scene information and, and my polygon total is 7214(50374). I looked at the maxon mime, and it’s count is 0(3998). My question is: why is the first number in the count for the original mime a 0, and mine is not? Prhaps the first number is multiplied to get the second number? How do i get the first number of my mime ot equal 0?

Something strange there. The first number represents the polygon count in real (i.e., not procedural) geometry, while the second number represents the polygon count of procedural geometry that you see in the editor window. For example, if you make a cube editable and put it in a HN object, you’ll see 6 (the actual number of faces) followed by 102, the number of faces you get from the HN two levels of subdivision [6 + 4(6*4)].

Since the Mime figure is, AFAIK, real geometry, you should see something other than 0 as the first number.

Regarding the slowdown, are you sure that you have your heirarchy set up correctly? You want to make sure that your bones/joints are deforming the low-poly mesh rather than the subdivided mesh.
