I often create area type and then wish to scale it similar to what I do with point type. Instead it just adjusts the area which the text can be within. Is there anyway to free transform an area type box? I feel that sometimes I’ve gotten this to work but I have no idea how. Thanks in advance.

Select the text box than click S (Scale tool). Then it will resize the box and the text that is inside it.

Thanks. Been searching for that shortcut for a while.

You can also use the transform tool for that.
I also often create a quick shape right next to the text box, a square or something like it, I select both together and scale down to what I need, then I delete the square.

I know it sounds like too much a hassle, but I’m so used to it that I do it probably faster than using the scale tool.

Hmmm, interesting. I’ll have to try that.
