    Hello 🙂

after seeing Aharon’s “An Introduction to Video Compression” is wonder if Adobe Media Encoder is also ment with that “you should not use the editing software’s encoding” ?

I have no comparison and would not want to spend a few hundreds to find out if or maybe it gets better.

That Adobe Encoder seems more like a program in the program, that does a decent job. Sometimes I am not too happy with the MPEG2 Encoding for DVD – but again I have no comparison if others do it better.

So I would like to know what You think about the Encoder and if it really makes a difference to spend so much money.

    Thanks!

    Peter

well, why don’t you download a trial version of Sorenson Squeeze to see the difference. It won’t cost you anything.

One of the big things that make for good encoding is multi-pass compression – at least one analysis pass before encoding. Also, a mix of automatic keyframes with interval based keyframes is crucial in the upkeep of video quality. If your software can’t do both of these, then you are already losing the compression game.
