Hi! I’ve had a long-running issue where a video rendered with a transparent PNG file will freeze Sony Vegas.
I’m using a PNG file as a water mark on this video, so it has to have transparent properties.

The watermark is active during the entire video, but the render will freeze at random times.

If I render enough times, I will occasionally get lucky and it will complete the render. Which is the only solution I have right now, to basically brute force it.

This issue exists using both the MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 or Sony AVC/MVC render formats.

This issue exists on two separate PCs. So I think it’s a problem with vegas and not the computer.

I’ve also tried a number of different PNG files with the same results.

Any ideas what could be going on? Thanks for the help!

    Hi Zebra

I don’t think that the .PNG is the culprit. We would have to know if all of your video files on the timeline(s) are of the same source, what type (not just the container), what are the FX you’ve added, filters, etc…

    Cheers !

[Zebra Gamer] “Any ideas what could be going on?”

Hi Zebra! Yes, yes I do.

    1) SOLO the PNG track and Render to a Transparent format.

    2) Switch to SOLO the VIDEO track and Render.

    3) Start a NEW Veg with Track 1 Rendered Watermark, and Track 2 Rendered Video.

My thoughts are VegasPro is choking on the Maths it’s needing to do. This way you can get the job done and move on.
