  PMW 350 Subclip Errors / Inconsistencies

  The issue: For some reason, in two random instances, the camera is not grouping its subclips as it does by default.

  Normally, every twelve and a half minutes (or four GB) the camera splits a take into subclips, which by the time we ingest the footage is one long clip (as it was shot).

  Strangely, we are seeing in a few instances the footage showing up as separate clips instead. (01, 02, 03..) with no way to join them in XDCAM software. See highlighted clips below.

  

  But it’s sporadic – grouped properly in the morning, unnaturally split later, fixed again in the evening. I checked with the director/camera ops, and they didn’t know anything about settings changing on the camera itself (and there’s not exactly a big external toggle to bump into).

  Any thoughts/suggestions? I can only assume it’s a fluke, but how can we fix this, and what should we be on the lookout for while shooting?
