  PluralEyes 3 is getting confused by my media

  I’ve never used PluralEyes a lot, but it’s always worked wonderfully for me.

  However, I’m working on more shoots with 5D + external audio (slated), and I’m seeing both PluralEyes 3 + Premiere Pro CC (sync by audio feature) getting confused sometimes.

  In this current case I have 2 5D cameras. Both have normal clear reference audio tracks.
  The external audio is well labeled 5 channel – also very clear and well recorded audio.
  All audio is 48khz. Cam audio is 16bit and external is 24 bit.

  But PluralEyes, while sometimes syncing perfectly, is often getting confused and combining things that aren’t similar at all. (With that red icon to indicate sync issues) It would be faster to sync manually than untangle what it’s done IMO.

  Next I tried simplifying – only one camera and external audio. Enabled “Try Harder”. I always use “Allow Sync to Change Clip Order” since the audio is labeled by slating ( i.e. 1CT01) and not in chronological order.

  But still – about 15-20 takes are still jumbled all over the place for 2 hours of shooting.
  In 2 cam+audio mode it can get bad enough that each track has a different take. (i.e. Cam 1 is on 1B, Cam 2 is on 4A, and audio is on 3B)

  Now yes, it would have been faster to sync it manually at this point. But I’m encountering more side gigs using Premiere Pro and this workflow, and I want to be able to troubleshoot any situation that comes my way. (I still prefer jam sync in AVID workflows, buuut hey)

  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  (Side note – on another shoot this week, PluralEyes 3 behaved the same way, but Premiere Pro CC Sync by Audio sunk it perfectly. Neither are working in this case, to be clear. Mysteries!)
