mall dilema folks. I have a whole bunch of plugins that won’t load. I tried putting them into the FCP plugins folder in my personal user library as well as the top level library FCP plugins folder.

FCP will not load any of them. Does anyone have suggestions?

Are you simply trying to copy them over from somewhere else?

You probably just need to re-install them.

If you have Automatic Duck, put a Z in front of it and see if that solves your problem.

Yes, I have copied them from my own plugins folder to other FCP stations and they all work without installing them. Actually the installation process for all of them is simply to drag them to the correct plugins folder, however for just one machine, FCP will not load them.

I had a set of copied-over Generators and effects plugs that would not show up in the application. I ended up (per advice read on this forum, I believe) doing a “Get Info” on each one, and making sure that permissions were set to “Read and Write.” Once that was done, they magically appeared.

I have a related question, at least pertaining to FCP HD (4.5)-
It appears that there are at least two locations where PlugIns can be located. One is in the customary /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support folder, but there is also a “Plugins” folder in the FCP HD application bundle. Get Info, Show Package Contents, Contents, reveals a buried Plugins folder. I did try moving or copying a few from the former location to this one, and they showed up and worked normally. When the plugs are within the application bundle’s Plugins folder, they show up handily listed in a PlugIns pane in the Get Info window for the FCP app, which can be handy to inventory what’s available and installed.
