    Hi all,

I’m a FCP newbie who recently purchased CHV’s repair collection to work on some damaged footage. The plug-ins seem to work really well, but if I use them, FCP takes FOREVER to render or export. (17 hours to render a 10 minute clip with only the noise reducer applied, and 2-3 hours to export a 10 second clip in 23.98 Prores422HQ.)

I contacted CHV’s customer help, and was told “You can speed up the process by choosing a smaller value for the “Used Timespan” parameter. Small values result in a faster render speed. With a too small value the noise reduction will not be as effective. Use the smallest possible value.”

I’ve tried several tests adjusting this parameter, but render and export time hasn’t improved!

    Any suggestions?

I’m on a quad-core intel mac w/ 17 GB memory… I’m using a 4TB external raid for scratch disk, cache… could my problem have anything to do with how my box is configured or are plug-ins of this nature typically this slow?

What footage are you working with? Meaning, is this HDV footage? Or DVCPRO HD? what? HDV is VERY processor intensive, so adding another processor intensive plugin on top of it will really slow things down.

If, however, it was captured as ProRes, then things would render faster.
