Plug-ins and Effect presets are missing!

I’ve downloaded trapcode particular, put it in the plug ins folder for AE, but nothing shows up in the list when I open AE back up. I’ve tried several times even putting the trapcode plugin in some of the other folders(format,keyframe…) but nothing seems to work. Also I can’t access a lot of my effects in AE either. I can see them when I look in the finder window under presets but not under the effects tab in AE. I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong! please help -

The Trapcode plugins use an installer which places the plugin and the support files in the appropriate directories. Did you use the installer?
What version of After Effects are you running?
