Plexus effect on Sony Vegas? Is it possible?
Posted by Anna Merry on February 13, 2014 at 9:42 pmI was wondering is it possible to have the same plugin in Sony Vegas as in After Effects – Plexus plugin. Here you can watch the effect:

https://vimeo.com/groups/plexus/page:4It’s really awesome and I would like to create this kind of stuff without buying the AE. What do you think?

February 14, 2014 at 12:42 pmObviously that is not available in Sony Vegas.
And there isnt a plugin available for Vegas with such an
advanced motion graphic architecture or features…. The closest
plugin i can think of available for Vegas that can do a little
bit of this is Genarts Particle Illusion.Steve Rhoden

Boris RED can run some After Effects plug-ins and Boris RED plus into Vegas Pro 10 or later so you could test a trial of this Plexus plug-in with a trial of Boris RED and see if it works and then buy them if it does and have the Plexus plug-in in Vegas Pro (via Boris RED).

February 14, 2014 at 2:47 pmThanks!
I’m thinking now… was it a good idea to buy Sony Vegas instead of After Effects… In AE I can do everything, but Vegas… hmm.. only some part.
Why people use Vegas? not AE? -

February 14, 2014 at 3:49 pmSome people like a pen, some people like a pencil.
Vegas is a great editor. AE is a great special effects generator.
If you’re not in the special-effects-generating business, Vegas can do everything.
If you do special effects and not much video editing, Vegas won’t interest you at all.
Before you spend hundreds of dollars on software, you should always consider what you’re going to do with it.

February 14, 2014 at 9:34 pmI would suggest buying them both if you can – they are two different products that compliment each other.

February 14, 2014 at 10:16 pmAs Stewart has pointed out After Effects is not a Non-Linear Editor (NLE) like Vegas Pro. AE is for special effects like Boris RED or Apple Motion. For example: It has no concept of multiple clips on a track. It can only have one clip on a track. That would drive you crazy of you were editing a video with 100 clips because you would need 100 tracks, each with just small section with 1 clip. In Vegas you would only need 1 track with all of the clips back-to-back. They are different tools for different purposes; both just happen to work with video.

February 15, 2014 at 5:23 amFrom what i read as your needs and if you are a serious artist,
you need both Vegas and After Effects, dont bother tip-toeing
around the issue, because in the end, you gonna come right back
round to it…. trust me (smile).Steve Rhoden

February 15, 2014 at 4:33 pmOk. I got it now… but If I use After Effects then maybe better if I would mix it with Premiere (not Vegas)? Maybe Premiere has got a better connection options than Vegas? What do you think?
