I’d check out the new Pioneer DVR-111D. You can get them at Newegg.com for $37. Plextor makes good products, but Pioneer has been the leading manufacturer of DVD drives since time began.

    Thank you,

Disc Makers told me that the Plextor drives offer greater compatibility and more accurate data transfer. Money is not an issue; we need the best and most compatible product available at this time.

IF money isn’t an issue, then don’t burn them yourself, you’ll get much better results from having them Glass Mastered and silk screened. Plus, you’ll have a more professional looking product. And having discs glass mastered is how the hollywood discs are done, they’ll play in anything (theoretically)

Money is the not the issue for the towers:-) We do small run duplications for customers, schools and districts, but need the most compatible DVD-R solution available today.

There is your answer. In a recent PC Magazine John Dvorak stated very clearly that the Plextor drives are hands down the best drive out there….he stated several compelling reasons and certainly got my attention.

Get the Plextor’s for the work you are asking them to do.

    [Rich Rubasch] “John Dvorak stated”

Is this the same Dvorak who keeps predicting that Apple is going belly up or is switching to Windows?

    Arnie,

And, I would also ask, are the folks recommending a device at three times the cost actually seeing any tangible benefit? Are they experiencing problems with their DVDs to begin with? Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’ve only created a handful of coasters out of thousands of successes.

Yup, David, I agree with you on the cost. Between these 2 brands, I’d tilt towards Pioneer. If we were talking about Plextor vs Lite-On, I’d pay the extra $$, but Pioneer is one of the leading brands.
