Tried searching heavily for an answer to this problem…so here it goes.

I have an animation in ImageReady that’s been edited with transparency, ready to export. However, when I export and try to import into AE or even Final Cut, I lose alpha (becomes white).

This is not for web, and the Flash file wont do (unless there’s no alternative I guess).

I’m sure its an easy fix. Perhaps there is a certain format to export as? I’ve tried several different types; Animation, Uncompressed to name a few, but it becomes a variety of the same issue.

If anyone can help me I’d greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks.

well then, what is the best solution for preparing transparent backgounds on video, ie transitions and such (forgive the illknowledge, I’m relatively novice)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I agree with Richard. If you’re going to video, remove IR from your workflow and stick to AE, it’s like photoshop for video.
It has a crazy learning curve, but the results are worth the effort. 🙂
You can use Multiply, or other blending modes to knock-out an image. Plus, there are a bunch of other color keying options.
AE has a pretty easy-to-use layer mask function, it’s vector, and you can keyframe it’s motion if necessary.
You can prepare PSD files and bring ’em into AE.

    Just some thoughts…
