January 8, 2009 at 7:24 pmand Andy, i actually exported an mov from my timeline in FCP and re-imported it into the same timeline.
this worked just for a while. i saved about 10 times after that and then found out later all those saves were broken. -

Did you import it in to the broswer first or just the timeline?

January 8, 2009 at 8:34 pm[Shane Mckinney] “i can open the program itself on its own”
Can you then open your ‘busted’ project from within the open FCP application?

January 8, 2009 at 9:30 pmMan, sounds like we have a single file that corrupted quite a bit.
In response to the last question, I can open FCP and any files and projects, as long as they didn’t tough that one file. If I try to open any of those projects, I get that same message. -

January 9, 2009 at 4:38 amOkay going out on a limb, but delete the waveform and thumbnail cache and user prefs again and try to open the FCP project with the caps lock pressed.
Probably won’t work, but………….

January 9, 2009 at 5:31 am[Shane Mckinney] ” interesting idea there, but no luck.”
Yeah, I figured. This usually has to do with a weird piece of media.
Have you tried starting the project with your media drive disconnected? Is every single piece of media on your external drive? If there’s any media (music or pictures or whatever) that’s on your boot drive, move it to a different folder and try again.
Do you have another machine or laptop that has FCP on it?
