Playing back HD video on Canon XHA1

The camera’s playback mode must match the format on the tape (HDV or DV) AND Down-convert turned off. Then your Project/Sequence settings must be HDV.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply to my request for help.

3 further questions in response to your reply (will show just how new I am to HD)

1. Do I have to buy specific HDV tapes or can I still use the
standard DV ones I havce been using

2. Where do I find the Down-convert option to enable me to turn it
off – how do I turn it off (is it just a menu option as others
are and I selcet the appropriate option)

3. You say the Project/Sequence settings must be HDV – again where
do I find this option on the camera?

Sorry if these appear (or are) really dumb questions but when evertything is new to you even the basics can be a bit daunting until you have done them once or twice.

1. Tapes are the same.
2. There is an option in the camera to down-convert HDV to DV during capture in the camera.
3. Project (CS3) or Sequence (CS4) settings are Premiere settings that must match the format of video coming from your camera…HDV or DV.
