How do I play a 153.05 gig Quicktime file on my old Mac? I need to make framegrabs from a feature on my monitor for designing with stills.

I normally do this with smaller Quicktime files. But this large file froze my computer twice. I’m using OSX 10.6.8 (SnowLeopard) on a 2X3 Ghz dual core Intel Xeon with Quicktime 10.0

I will try cutting the file into segments next. Do I need a better graphics card? I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT in this computer.

Try opening it in compressor. Then when you want to make a grab use Shift-CMD-4 and drag over the area you want the frame grab. It’ll save the file on your desktop. Compressor sometimes is a useful cheat for stuff like this.
