  • Playback Skips Outside FCP – Quite odd

    Hello

    I’m editing a Video for a band.

The video was shot on RED @ 2K rez, 60fps interpreted at 30 FPS (slomo)

Inside FCP, everything works fine, the video plays back perfect, and colors are ok. But wheneve I try to export this footage as MP4, H.264, Prores 444, 422, AVI or whatever, the footage skips.

The video is a constant dolly (assembled in AFX CS4). The camera moves from right to left thru the video.

The skipping is odd in that these frames are there. If I see a skip and I check it frame by frame, they are where they are supposed to be, even if I re import said footage to FCP, they play OK.

I have tried to re interpret the footage as 30 FPS and not the native 29.97, tried rendering with fields, tried rendering as a tiff seq, targa seq and more….

    Any ideas???

    tnx in advance

    f3

Playback is entirely dependent upon your playback application and the hardware you are running it on.

FCP is designed to do that. QT Player may not be able to handle the throughput. You haven’t told u what you’re playing it on.
