playback and sync issue in external monitor
Thanks for your help in advance…you guys are awesome. Anyway, noticed my audio is out of sync with my canvas video playing back through a JVC TM-H150CG monitor. It doesn’t record that way on output to DVDSP. Also wondered why I cannot play back the viewer video through same monitor. I am using firewire out from FCP to a Sony HVR-M15U then S-VHS to the monitor.

Firewire out of the computer introduces a 5-8 frame delay compared to the canvas. You can have sync sound on the canvas if you monitor the computer or if you send the audio out to the firewire, sync with the NTSC monitor. You CAN”T have it both ways. The only way that is possible is if you use an internal card like the blackmagic or AJA. These cards do NOT use the firewire bus which delays the signal.
Have you checked your monitor settings (“External monitor off”)?
