  Place file in comp problem

  Ive got AE 6.5.1,Win xp sp2.I have sometimes problem.If I open new project and new composition then import a few files,I cant place file in comp window (drag and drop) even , I cant place file in timeline window.So I must save and close composition then open again and I can do that, but only a few times than it happens again and I have to again save and close etc..PS No matter is it video or psd or something else, just cant place file in comp window or timeline
