  • Pixilate (with a mask) someone “giving the finger” in a shot?

Posted by Jim Cutler on February 27, 2006 at 1:43 am

What’s the best way to do this? In a shot I _HAVE_ to use (I can’t cut it) the person being interviewed gives the finger for about 3 seconds. I assume you cover the hand with a mask. When I see this on tv the mask isn’t solid, it’s sort of a pixilated blur over the hand. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    Joe’s Filters.

    Have a wonderful day.

We’ve used Joes Filters for this in the past, but Joes has no motion tracker built in, so it’s a manual process. Lately we’ve been using BCC 4 for all our bluring/tracking shots. Works great. Joe’s is much cheaper, however. It’s all about your time. Which costs less?
